Co-Founder, Contract Cloud

Trent Smith is a co-founder of Contract Cloud and an experienced in-house lawyer with more than 11 years' legal experience, including around 8 years working in-house.

Trent has worked across organisations including QIC, Tabcorp and UnitingCare, advising on commercial contracts, procurement, technology, privacy, risk, governance and regulatory matters.

His in-house experience gives him a practical understanding of the pressure legal teams face to review contracts quickly, manage risk consistently and support the business without becoming a bottleneck.

Trent co-founded Contract Cloud to help legal teams, businesses and law firms use AI in a practical, secure and commercially useful way, while keeping lawyers in control of the final outcome.

Our story

Founded to solve a practical contract problem.

Contracts are critical to every organisation, but they are often reviewed manually, stored across disconnected systems and difficult to manage once signed.

We built Contract Cloud to give legal, procurement and compliance teams a secure workspace for contract review, document management, risk analysis and lifecycle management.

What we believe

Practical principles for legal technology that teams can trust.

Practical AI

AI should support professional judgment, not replace it.

Security first

Legal and commercial documents require secure infrastructure and careful governance.

Built for real workflows

Contract tools should fit the way lawyers and business teams actually work.

Australian focus

Australian organisations should have access to secure, locally relevant contract technology.

Clarity over complexity

Good software should make contract work easier to manage, not harder to explain.

Trust

Designed for sensitive legal and commercial documents.

Contract Cloud's security positioning is aligned with its current Security page and Australian hosted infrastructure approach.

Customer data at rest stored in AWS Sydney
